"Staying Speechless" is an original acrylic and mixed media artwork on a 24 x 24-inch gallery canvas, created by Quebec painter Pauline Larouche . From the "Character" series, part of the "Words to Say It" collection, this piece was conceived as part of a fundraising campaign for the Quebec Association for Suicide Prevention , a profoundly human cause that invites reflection, listening, and hope.

The human figure is at the heart of this composition. The face, sketched using a gel plate impression, evokes the fragility, vulnerability, and inner strength that coexist within each of us. On the left side of the face appears a crossword puzzle, symbolizing tangled thoughts, unanswered questions, and emotions difficult to express. Words swirl in the artist's mind, searching for a way out. Yet, this work also conveys a message of hope: asking for help, talking to someone, reaching out, or accepting a helping hand can be the first step toward the light.

The layering of textures, transparencies, impressions, and interplay of materials gives this contemporary painting a depth that invites the viewer to pause, observe, and feel. Each glance reveals a new detail, a new emotion.

This artwork integrates perfectly into a contemporary interior, whether a house, condo, or professional office, where it will become a focal point for reflection and conversation. It will naturally find its place in a minimalist living room, library, entryway, waiting room, the office of a psychologist, social worker, coach, or any business wishing to promote the values of listening, humanity, and compassion.

Remaining speechless is much more than a decorative painting: it is a contemporary Quebecois work of art that reminds us that behind every silence lies a story and that there is always a possibility of being heard.
