The series "Words That Comfort" is an original acrylic and mixed-media work by Quebec painter Pauline Larouche , created as part of the "Words to Say It" series. This collection originated from a creative project designed to support a fundraising campaign for the Quebec Association for Suicide Prevention. Each painting puts humanity at the forefront and invites dialogue about mental health, hope, and compassion.

The figure was created from a print made with a gel plate, then integrated into the painting through layering, texturing, and collage. Its still-developing face conveys a person deep in thought, searching for a way out of their worries. A faint hint of a smile appears, however, suggesting that hope remains.

Large, luminous flowers occupy the center of the composition as a metaphor for rebirth. They symbolize gentleness, resilience, and the kind words that can transform a day, sometimes even a life. All around, positive phrases are scattered throughout the pictorial space, evoking the comforting words spoken by loved ones, caregivers, and support workers. These thoughts become a true inner light.

The clock serves as a reminder of the passage of time, but also of the importance of not suffering alone. When someone is going through a difficult period, asking for help is an act of courage. Solutions are not always immediate, but they do exist. A phone call, a listening ear, or simply being there can become the key that unlocks a path to well-being.

The rich textures, art paper collages, interplay of light, and contrasts between the warm tones of the flowers and the more subdued shades of the background create a profoundly expressive work. "Words That Comfort" celebrates the power of kind words, the importance of listening, and the power of art as a universal language.

This original painting will appeal to collectors seeking a meaningful contemporary Quebec work, where emotion, texture and symbolism unite to tell a profoundly human story.
