Retirement is an original work by Pauline Larouche, a Quebec painter , created using mixed media on a 20 x 20 inch gallery canvas . This artwork is ready to hang and invites gentle and luminous reflection on a new stage of life: the one where we finally choose to take our time.

This work was born from a personal experience. Upon retiring, Pauline Larouche wanted to mark this transition with a creation that evokes the pleasure of slowing down, breathing, and fully savoring each moment.

The words integrated into the composition, notably "taste time" and "take time" , become a guiding thread that gives the work its full depth.

Textures initiated the movement of the composition . The layering of fibrous paper, cardboard and different materials creates a rich and expressive surface, where each layer seems to tell a story, a memory or a moment that adds to the previous one.

The shades of turquoise, white, grey, black and touches of gold bring to the whole an energy that is at once contemporary, soothing and lively.

Butterflies, small motifs, writing, and graphic details suggest transformation, freedom, and openness to a new way of inhabiting time. The eye moves through the material and gradually discovers new details.
