Ski skating with love is an original work by Pauline Larouche , from her Sport series . Created with acrylic and mixed media techniques, including collage of art paper and mortar on gallery canvas, this 30 x 30 inch painting sensitively depicts a moment of connection between a mother and her child in the heart of a winter landscape.

In this scene, nature becomes the playground for a family outing where movement, pleasure, tenderness, and pushing personal limits come together. Mother and child move forward together, sharing a precious moment where physical activity also becomes a way to create memories.

Pauline Larouche speaks of this desire to move, to push their limits, and to fully enjoy winter, all while maintaining a special focus on the child they hold so dear. One can almost imagine their laughter echoing in the silence of the forest.

The richness of the work also stems from its textures. The artist incorporated elements reminiscent of fish scales into the background, along with drawings of fish in mortar . By rotating the canvas during the creative process, the figure emerged organically. The existing textures then inspired the creation of the fur , while the luminous touches evoke frost crystals sparkling in the sunlight .

Created during Pauline Larouche's artist residency in Bardsville in September 2026 , this work testifies to her intuitive way of creating: textures, shapes and matter participate directly in the birth of the subject.

Ski skating with love ultimately celebrates much more than a winter outing. It speaks of the parent-child relationship, the joy of being together, the freedom to move, and those little moments of happiness that become precious memories.
